Chandru ENT-Derma Care maintains an on-site in-house laboratory offering a comprehensive range of diagnostic investigations. Timely, accurate laboratory diagnostics are fundamental to evidence-based medical practice — enabling the treating physician to confirm diagnoses, monitor treatment response, detect medication-related side effects and investigate systemic causes of skin, hair and ENT conditions.
On-site testing eliminates the delay associated with external pathology referrals, allowing faster treatment decisions, enhanced patient convenience and a seamless care experience. All tests are performed using calibrated, quality-assured equipment maintained in accordance with standard clinical laboratory guidelines.
- Patients on oral isotretinoin require monthly monitoring of liver enzymes and lipid profile as mandated by CDSCO prescribing guidelines — on-site labs make this mandatory protocol seamless and convenient.
- Pre-operative blood tests (CBC, coagulation profile, blood group and metabolic panel) for ENT and facial plastic surgery patients are completed without the inconvenience of an external referral.
- Hormonal investigations for patients with PCOS-related acne, hair loss or hirsutism can be ordered and reviewed within the same consultation, enabling faster diagnosis.
- Microbiological culture and sensitivity results guide targeted antibiotic prescribing, helping combat antibiotic resistance — a public health priority in India.
- Nutritional deficiency testing (ferritin, vitamin D, zinc) frequently identifies reversible contributors to hair loss that, once corrected, improve treatment response significantly.
Diagnostic Tests Available
The following investigation categories are available at our in-house laboratory.
Haematology
Complete Blood Count (CBC) with differential leucocyte count — for diagnosis of anaemia, monitoring of infections, pre-operative clearance and assessment of systemic conditions associated with skin or hair disease.
Biochemistry & Metabolic Panel
Liver function tests (LFTs), renal function tests (RFTs), fasting lipid profile, fasting blood glucose, post-prandial glucose and HbA1c — essential for monitoring patients on oral isotretinoin, assessing general health and evaluating candidacy for procedures.
Endocrinology & Hormonal Panel
Thyroid function tests (T3, T4, TSH); reproductive hormones (FSH, LH, prolactin, testosterone, DHEA-S, oestradiol) — for investigation of PCOS, androgenetic alopecia, hormonal acne and related conditions.
Nutrition & Deficiency Markers
Serum ferritin, serum iron with TIBC, serum vitamin D (25-OH), serum vitamin B12 and serum zinc — key nutritional markers that are frequent and correctable contributors to hair loss and skin disorders.
- MicrobiologyKOH preparation (fungal microscopy for tinea and onychomycosis), culture and sensitivity testing from skin swabs, ear swabs and wound specimens — enabling accurate diagnosis and targeted antibiotic or antifungal therapy.
- Allergy & ImmunologyTotal serum IgE and specific allergen IgE panel — for investigation of allergic rhinitis, allergic asthma, chronic urticaria and atopic dermatitis.
Preparing for Your Laboratory Tests
Most blood tests can be completed on the same day as your clinic appointment, though some require specific preparation. Please inform the reception staff about any tests your doctor has requested so that the appropriate preparation instructions can be provided.
Hormonal tests (FSH, LH, oestradiol) are timed to specific days of the menstrual cycle for accurate results — the clinic team will advise you on the optimal test day. Results for most haematological and biochemical investigations are available within 24–48 hours, with urgent requests processed on the same day where clinically indicated.
Test Preparation & What to Expect
1. Fasting Tests
Fasting blood glucose, HbA1c and lipid profile require 8–12 hours of fasting prior to sample collection. Water is permitted. Please attend the clinic in the morning and inform reception that you are fasting.
2. Non-Fasting Tests
CBC, thyroid function, hormonal panel, ferritin, vitamin D, IgE panel and renal function tests do not require fasting and can be collected at any time of day.
3. Timed Hormonal Tests
FSH and LH are drawn on days 2–5 of the menstrual cycle; progesterone is drawn on day 21. The clinic receptionist will schedule your test on the correct cycle day.
4. Microbiology Samples
Skin scrapings, ear swabs and wound swabs require no prior preparation. Please do not apply topical medication to the collection area on the day of testing.
- Step 5: Results & ReportingResults are communicated directly to your treating doctor, who will discuss findings and any required treatment adjustments at your follow-up appointment.
Safety & Comfort
Laboratory testing is safe and minimally invasive.
Venepuncture (Blood Draw)
A brief sting at the site of the needle; a small bruise may appear and resolves within a few days. The phlebotomist uses the smallest appropriate gauge needle.
Skin Scraping or Swab
Skin scrapings and swab collections are painless.
After Your Tests
No specific aftercare is required following standard laboratory testing.
- If you feel light-headed after a blood draw, remain seated and inform the clinic staff.
- Fasting patients should eat promptly after completing their blood collection.
- Await your results review appointment with your treating doctor before making any changes to your medication or diet based on results.
Who Can Use the Laboratory?
The on-site laboratory is available to all patients of the clinic as well as external patients requiring specific tests.
